Hi
Our skincare is made for you. This page explains what we do with information about people who visit our website. The grown-up version is here — it’s long, because the law says it has to be. This one is the short version.
Do you know who I am?
No. We don’t know your name, where you live, how old you are, or anything about your skin.
You can look around our website as much as you like, and we won’t ask you a single question about yourself.
Can I buy something?
Not by yourself. You have to be a grown-up to buy from us or make an account. That’s because of the law, and because we’d rather a parent or carer decided what’s right for you.
If you’d like something from us, ask a grown-up. They can buy it, and we’ll only keep their details — like where to post the parcel — not yours.
What are cookies? Do you use them?
Cookies are tiny files a website can put on your phone, tablet or computer to remember things.
We use two kinds:
- The ones we can’t switch off. These make the website actually work — like remembering what you put in the basket. Every shop needs these.
- The ones that count visitors. These tell us things like “40 people looked at this page today”. They don’t tell us who anyone is. These only happen if someone says yes when the little box pops up. If nobody says yes, they don’t happen. That’s a real choice, and “no” is a perfectly good answer.
Do you follow me around the internet?
Only if someone says yes. Some websites watch what you look at and then show you adverts about it everywhere you go afterwards. It can feel a bit creepy.
On our site that only happens if someone says yes when the little box pops up. If nobody says yes, it doesn’t happen. We don’t guess things about you. And we never swap information about you with other shops.
Do you know where I am?
No. We don’t collect your location.
Do you tell anyone about me?
We don’t have anything about you to tell anyone. And we never, ever sell people’s information. Not to anyone. Not for anything.
What about reviews?
Grown-ups can write reviews of our products, and everyone can read them. If you help write one with your parent or carer, please don’t put your name, your age, your photo, or anything about your skin or your health in it. We check reviews before they go up, and we’ll take out anything like that.
What if I’m worried about something?
Talk to a grown-up you trust first — a parent, a carer, or a teacher. They can help you work out what to do, and they can contact us for you.
You or a grown-up can also email us at privacy@barelaterre.com. A real person reads it. Tell us what’s bothering you and we’ll explain it properly, in words that make sense.
If you think we’ve got something about you that we shouldn’t have, tell us and we’ll delete it.
And if you’d rather write it down properly, you and your grown-up can use our complaints form.
Your rights
The law gives you rights over information about you. You can ask what a company knows about you, ask them to fix it if it’s wrong, or ask them to delete it. These rights are yours — you don’t have to wait until you’re 18.
If you ever feel a company hasn’t listened, there’s an organisation called the Information Commissioner’s Office whose job is to help. They have a page for young people at ico.org.uk.
